Aberfeldy became Scotland’s first Fairtrade town in 2002 and is steeped in history and culture. The town has many independently owned shops offering a wide range of speciality goods. There’s also a great array of restaurants, coffee shops and delis providing excellent, fresh local produce.
Aberfeldy has long been one of Scotland’s most popular bases for an array of outdoor activities. Walking, mountain biking, fishing, golf, canoeing and gorge walking are amongst those on offer and the town is widely recognised as being ‘the whitewater capital’ of the UK.
To ensure our guests make the most of their stay in the area, we have picked a handful of local activities that we would recommend:
Located at the entrance to the lodges, Aberfeldy Distillery has produced the world renowned Dewar’s Scotch Whisky since 1898. The distillery provides an in-depth and educational insight into the production of this single malt. Visitors have the option of distillery tours, the heritage exhibition, a brand store, cocktail bar and coffee shop.
The Birks Cinema is a state of the art, 100-seat cinema which recently underwent extensive modernisation. The cinema screens a combination of new releases and cinema classics, with films suitable for all ages.
Owned by our neighbours, and previous owners of Drumcroy Lodges, Spirit of Wood has an abundance of hand crafted, quality furniture, accessories and giftware across their four showrooms. Spirit of Wood also provide made to measure items and have the option of getting your own designs commissioned.
Winner of the ‘Best Visitor Experience’ in Scotland, Highland Safaris provide off road Land Rover and wildlife tours. The experience brings together the breath-taking local scenery, walking and biking tracks and wildlife, including their own Red Deer Park and Gold Panning Centre.
